Literacy for Life Foundation is a non-profit registered charity that provides service in the MD of Foothills. Our programs are provided at little or no cost to the learner, family or community agency.

Literacy for Life believes that the best place to begin is with a baby, and the most valuable people in that child’s development are the parents or caregivers. Our programs are designed to provide information, strategies, and activities for the parent to support them in the very important job of helping their children grow up healthy, with an emphasis on “PLAY”.

Programs for this early stage include:

  • Books for Babies
  • Rhythm and Rhyme
  • Movers and Shakers
  • Toddler Time
  • Food Fun / Book Buddies
  • Building Blocks-In-Home Program (Building Blocks is also available for families with school aged children up to 17 years)

Literacy for Life provides support to families and school aged children through Dog Tales and Building Blocks. The organization provides support to adults through volunteer tutoring, ESL, GED classes and computer basics as well as other essential skills.

Literacy is more than books! It revolves around the 10 essential skills:

  • PLAY
  • reading
  • writing
  • numeracy
  • document use
  • use of technology
  • oral communication
  • continuous learning
  • critical thinking
  • working together
